New Delhi: Delhi Police on Tuesday said that three FIRs have been registered in connection with the incidents that took place during the inauguration ceremony of Signature Bridge on November 4. All three cases are being referred to the crime branch for further investigation, police added.
"One case has been registered by BJP worker BH Jha and two others against AAP workers alleging beating and threats. The second is registered by AAP worker Tauqir against BJP workers. The third is registered against AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan," said Alok Kumar, Joint CP Delhi.
Earlier in the day, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari filed a police complaint against AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan who had allegedly misbehaved with him during the inauguration ceremony.
Tiwari had alleged that he was heckled, pushed and threatened by AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan and his party workers. The BJP MP also said that a few policemen too misbehaved with him.
Reports suggest that the Delhi BJP chief and his supporters had reached the venue of the inaugural function allegedly carrying black flags. He had earlier expressed displeasure over not being invited to the function and took a dig at the Kejriwal government, saying he would be present at the bridge to welcome the Chief Minister.
The much-awaited Signature Bridge over the Yamuna River was opened for public on November 5, Monday. The bridge aims to reduce the travel time between northeast and north Delhi.
The first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge in India will serve as a tourist destination with the 154-metre high glass box giving a bird's eye view of the city to the visitors.
