NEW DELHI: The Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government on Friday announced that the use of loudspeakers will be allowed during the Durga Puja and Ramlila celebrations till midnight. A release from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said that the use of loudspeakers will be allowed till 12 AM during the Durga Puja and Ramlila celebrations.

According to a proposal cleared by Delhi Chief Minister, the festival organisers can use loudspeakers till 12 AM from October 15 to October 24. It may be noted that currently the use of loudspeakers is allowed only till 10 PM in the national capital.

The file regarding the exemption has been sent to LG VK Saxena, a release from the Delhi CMO said. The development came a day after Ramlila organisers met Delhi CM Kejriwal and requested an exemption for the use of loudspeakers during the festivals.

Despite the AAP government approving the proposal, the organisers will still require permission from the Delhi Police. The CMO statement added that the Ramlila organisers must get permission from the police and ensure that the use of loudspeakers does not violate noise levels in residential areas,
