Court directs Google to remove hate videos against Sikhs

New Delhi: The Patiala House Court on Thursday directed Google India to remove videos containing hate speech against the Sikh religion, a media report said.

Circulation of such videos online will hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community, the court reportedly observed, directing Google India Pvt. Ltd. to remove them within seven days.

According to ANI, accused Sakshi Bhardwaj had posted the videos online.

The clips also reportedly contained derogatory remarks against Sikh Gurus.

Petitioner G S Wali had moved the court for an intervention into the matter.

His lawyer Gurmeet Singh told the court that hate speeches were in circulation on the social media for several days and were likely to spread communal disharmony.

The court has reportedly posted the matter for further hearing on November 22.
