Delhi records coldest March day in decade

The mercury dropped in the northern plains with the national capital recording the coldest day in the month of March in a decade today.

New Delhi: The mercury dropped in the northern plains with the national capital recording the coldest day in the month of March in a decade today.

The minimum temperature plunged to settle at 9.1 degrees celsius, seven notches below the season's average while the maximum temperature was pegged at 26.6 degrees Celsius, three notches below the normal, a Met Department official said.

"The minimum temperature was recorded at 26.6 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest day in the month of March witnessed since 2007.

"Even yesterday the minimum temperature was recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius. The city had registered a low of 9.7 degrees on March 5 in 2015," the official said.

Humidity level oscillated between 95 and 30 per cent.

The MeT Department has predicted overcast conditions for tomorrow.

"The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to settle around 28 and 10 degrees Celsius, respectively," the MeT official said.

Yesterday, maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 24.2 and 9.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
