New Delhi: Delhiites were in for a treat on Sunday morning, as they woke up to a cool 24 degrees and overcast skies, giving them relief, albeit temporary, from the heat.
The puddles on the road indicated the steady patter of rain in the wee hours, and people could be seen enjoying morning strolls in the breeze.
Currently, an induced cyclonic circulation from the prevailing Western Disturbance over Western Himalayas is over Central Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan region, due to which the weather system, pre-Monsoon activity has begun over the national capital and its adjoining NCR region, says skymet.
"One or two spells of thunderstorms or dust storms accompanied by squally winds reaching 55 kmph or more could hit a few places across Delhi and NCR over the weekend," said a senior official of the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre.
The change in weather comes as a massive relief as the mercury had shot up to more than 42 degree Celsius earlier this month resulting in excruciating heat waves.
