Fireman killed, four others injured in factory fire
A fireman was killed and two others injured while trying to douse a massive fire at a factory here, a fire service official said on Thursday.
New Delhi: A fireman was killed and two others injured while trying to douse a massive fire at a factory here, a fire service official said on Thursday. Two local residents also sustained burn injuries.
Police said the incident at the three-storey electric heater manufacturing factory in Anand Parbat Industrial Area in central Delhi was reported to the fire service's control room at around 10.15 pm on Wednesday. 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was finally stamped out at around 12.45 a.m.
Fireman Bijender Singh was killed and fire station officer Sunil Kumar injured when the second floor they were on operating collapsed, a senior officer said.
Both of them as well as leading fireman Sunil Kumar and two local residents Dhanjay and Pundit Ji, were taken to Jeevan Mala hospital for treatment but Bijender Singh had died of his burns.
Avtar Singh received around 40 per cent burns and was later referred to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital," the officer said.
