New Delhi: Presenting his first ever Budget on Wednesday, Delhi Finance Minister Kailash Gahlot gave a bigger budgetary allocation for the fiscal year 2023–2024 . As compared to Rs. 69,000 crore the year before, FM Gahlot presented a Rs 78,800 crore for the fiscal year 2023–2024, touching upon the crucial issues of infrastructure, education, health and more.

Gahlot took over the finance division after Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister, resigned after being detained by the CBI in connection with the Delhi excise policy scandal.

The state FM introduced nine schemes as part of the G-20 preparations.

The chaos around presentation of the Delhi Budget was cleared yesterday (Tuesday) after the Union Home Ministry approved the Budget which was earlier scheduled to be tabled in the assembly on Tuesday. The AAP government had to first provide clarification on the allocation of funds for infrastructure and advertisements to the Home Ministry, after which it got approval to present the Budget.
