IIMC Alumni Association lays emphasis on networking in annual meet in Bengaluru, Guwahati, Lucknow

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and the eastern chapter of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Alumni Association's annual meet 2018 took place in Lucknow, Bengaluru and Guwahati. Former students of IMMC went down the memory lane and remembered their days at the institute. At the same, speakers at the meet laid emphasis on networking to strengthen the association. 

Chairing the Uttar Pradesh chapter of the meet at Hotel Dayal Paradise in Lucknow, Santosh Kumar Valmiki said that along with networking, it was important to address social concerns also. On the other hand, chapter's general secretary emphasised on increasing its activities. IIMCA's co-founder said the association's activities can be increased not only in India but abroad too. 

In 'Connections 2018 Bengaluru', talks were held on the positive outcomes regarding networking and the alumni association itself. It was chaired by Ramesh Muniyappa. In the eastern chapter meet, too, an emphasis was laid on strengthening networking. The meet was held at The Lily Hotel in Guwahati. Increasing the activities of the alumni at local levels was discussed. IIMCA's general secretary Mihir Ranjan highlighted the journey of the association since its formation in 2012. 

IIMC is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It was inaugurated by Indira Gandhi on 17 August 1965. It has five regional centres at Aizawl (Mizoram), Amravati (Maharashtra), Dhenkanal (Odisha), Jammu (J&K) and Kottayam (Kerala).

The institute teaches a variety of disciplines including print journalism, photo-journalism, radio journalism, television journalism, advertising and public relations, among others.
