This is the first time that the NIRF has ranked institutes in the law category. Along with law, architecture and medical colleges have also been ranked by the ministry for the first time.

NEW DELHI: National Law School of India University in Bengaluru has been ranked at the first spot for pursuing law as per the Human Resource and Development (HRD) Ministry's National Institutional Ranking Framework 2018 released on Tuesday. National Law University in Delhi and Nalsar University of Law in Hyderabad have been ranked at the second and third spots respectively.

This is the first time that the NIRF has ranked institutes in the law category. Along with law, architecture and medical colleges have also been ranked by the ministry for the first time. As per the data, All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi holds the top spot for medical studies while the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur topped in the architecture category. The Indian Institute of Science (IISC) in Bengaluru was adjudged the overall best institution in the country. The list also includes six IITs in Madras, Bombay, Delhi, Kharagpur, Kanpur and Roorkee, JNU, BHU and Anna University in Chennai.

Here is the full list of top 10 law colleges of the country as per the NIRF rankings:

1) National Law School of India University
2) National Law University
3) Nalsar University of Law
4) Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
5) National Law University Jodhpur
6) Jamia Millia Islamia
7) The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences
8) Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow
9) Symbiosis Law School
10) Dr. B. R. Ambedkar College of Law

The rankings for 2018 were released by the HRD Ministry on Tuesday. The announcement was made by Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar along with Minister of state HRD Satya Pal Singh at Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Madras and Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad topped in the engineering category and management categories as per the NIRF rankings.
