Kolkata, Sept 29: The Calcutta High Court today banned rallies and processions in the metropolis during weekdays between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. The order was passed by Justice Amitava Lala after hearing the Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic) M K Singh and other officials his department. The order came following a suo motu contempt rule by Justice Lala against the Kolkata Traffic Police on September 24 when rush hour traffic here was dislocated for about two hours and the judge was held up in a traffic snarl.
