Bangalore, July 16: Karnataka government would be recruiting 5,000 primary school teachers in about two and a half months to fill up the vacant posts, the state assembly was informed today.
Minister for Primary and Secondary Education B K
Chandrashekhar told B N Bacchegowda (ABPJD) during Question
Hour that there were 7,800 vacant posts of primary school
teachers in the state. The government was in the process of
issuing notification for recruiting 5,000 primary school
teachers, he said.
Chandrashekhar said there were 3,788 vacant posts of high school teachers and 3,600 would be appointed by this month end. Responding to a spate of queries by the opposition with regard to insufficient high school teachers, chandrashekhar said the government has decided to recruit retired teachers as "guest teachers" to overcome the shortage.
Opposition BJP leader Jagadish Shettar, B Somashekhar, B N Bacchegowda (both ABPJD), P G R Sindhya (JD-U) and others drew the government's attention to the insufficient number of teachers in primary schools. Chandrashekhar, replying to K N Subbareddy (BJP), said the government has filed criminal cases against five schools in the city for collecting donation while admitting students and show cause notices have been issued to ten schools on the same charge. On receipt of reply from these ten schools, the government would initiate appropriate legal action against them, he said. Bureau Report
