New Delhi, Nov 12: BJP's chief ministerial candidate for Delhi Madan Lal Khurana today filed the nomination papers from his traditional Moti Nagar constituency and said he wished to get a chance to "repay the debt of the people" of the capital.
Accompanied by BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu and senior
party leaders Sahib Singh Verma, V K Malhotra, Vijay Goel and
Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Khurana went in a procession participated
by thousands of supporters to file the papers in the office of
the returning officer for the constituency.
Addressing the gathering there, the Delhi BJP chief said he had accumulated a debt of the people of the city as they had elected him 10 times since 1966 and they were responsible for making him chief minister and Union minister.
"I want a chance to repay the debt," he said and assured the people of solving the problems of Delhi which are as old as three decades.
"People have always given me the first degree. But this time, I will not be satisfied unless I get a distinction and the opponent loses his deposit," he said.
Presenting Khurana as a "leader of the masses", Naidu said the people should choose a government which cooperates with the Centre for the benefit of Delhi and not the one which always criticises the Central government. Bureau Report
