New Delhi, Nov 07: Following were the reasons given by a city court for terming the Tandoor murder case as `rarest of rare` and sentencing to death former Delhi youth Congress leader Sushil Sharma for killing his live-in partner Naina Sahni and burning her body in a Tandoor at a restaurant here eight years ago.
New Delhi, Nov 07: Following were the reasons given by a city court for terming the Tandoor murder case as "rarest of rare" and sentencing to death former Delhi youth Congress leader Sushil Sharma for killing his live-in partner Naina Sahni and burning her body in a Tandoor at a restaurant here eight years ago.
* The accused was a person in authority who exploited
Naina Sahni by creating a belief that the accused was her
husband which the accused denied during the trial.
* The accused murdered a helpless and hapless woman without any fault on her part.
* After murder, the accused took Sahni's dead body to the Tandoor at Bagiya Bar-be-Que instead of the cremation ground and burnt it in Tandoor.
* Profaning the dead body by burning in Tandoor of a helpless and hapless woman whom the convict exploited for his own political career is an insult to womanhood.
* The accused thereafter absconded and sought anticipatory bail from a principal sessions judge, Madras by giving false address of Madras.
* The conduct of the accused, who has no remorse, shows that the accused deserves extreme penalty.
* The accused took false defence.
* The aggravating circumstances outweigh the mitigating circumstances. Bureau Report
