Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 10: Samata Patry today demanded a judicial inquiry into the police firing on agitating tribals at Muthanga in Wayanad district on Feb 19. Samata Party in a memorandum submitted to the state chief minister, A K Antony also wanted the government to take steps to provide land to landless tribals and also withdraw police from the incident site to avoid further assault on tribals.
Memorandum, a copy of which was released to press, said government's reluctance to order judicial probe was a sure sign of its fear that "any such inquiry will bring out the actual facts.”
