Jammu, June 22: Emphasising the need to strengthen Village Defence Committees in border areas, Jammu and Kashmir Governor S K Sinha today called for joint efforts to tackle the menace of militancy. Addressing district officers at Kathua, Sinha said VDCs should be strengthened, especially in border area of the state, in order to check infiltration from across the border.
He said the VDCs should be strengthened not only for the purpose of defence, but also for developing better sources of information among them. Stating that optimum utilization of manpower and other resources should be ensured to launch successful offensive against militancy, particularly in mountainous areas, the governor exhorted officers to put their sincere efforts in serving the people especially those living in backward pockets of the state
He said attendance and regularity of the doctors and para-medical staff should be monitored frequently. Bureau Report
