Go Ethnic: A traditional-do compliments the night of Diwali perfectly. So, it is advisable to don an ethnic attire to rev-up the festive mood. Choose amongst salwar-suit, saree, ghaghra-choli to be your dress for the occasion.
Start Well: If you have dark spots on your face, conceal them with the help of a quality concealer. Your skin is sure to sweat-out while you are busy scheduling the festivities – so a mousse or studio fix emerges as a safe bet this season. Set your base with a compact powder matching your skin-tone and keep it with you for future touch-ups.
Go Colorful: Embroideries, adornments in your attires reflect the real essence of celebrations – therefore, apply a matching, eye-shadow on your eyelids – preferably in golden, copper or bronze hues and blend it perfectly to compliment your traditional look. To compliment, the occasion of lights you can use a shimmery highlighter just below your brows. You can also use a glitter based one for a dramatic-do! Then, apply a contrasting graphic black liner to give shape and add definition to your peepers. Now, curl your lashes and apply double coats of mascara to make them appear opened-up and beautiful. You can use gel-based kohl for lining your waterline.
Blush Right: For cheeks use a pink or peach shade of blush-on. Contour with a dark brown shade of blusher on the edges of your nose – over the chin to camouflage your double-chin and endow your face with a chiselled look. Also, one must not forget to highlight the cheekbones with a lighter color to let all the eyes stuck on her!
Bindi Time: It’s certainly not the golden era, but the Bindis can shine, undoubtedly! This Diwali, go for donning Swaroski studded and stones as Bindis which is highly in trend. Traditional, big ones are best if you emerge ethnic in a go!
Pout Perfect: You can use bold shades such as, reds, maroons, marsala, chocolate brown and other dark shades for coloring your pout, if you’re going all-ethnic this festive season. Although, if you’re eye makeup is loud – you can choose your lip shade to be a bit on lighter side. Salmon pink, burnt orange, bubble-gum pink, old-rose pink, coral, carnation pink are best options if you choose the other way round.
Tress Talk: Loose tresses are passé. Semi formal hair dos like; messy buns and braids are the preferred option on festivals which are utterly manageable too. So, it’s up to you to don a messy braid, side bun or even a braid-bun to be the limelight of your party! You can also don a classy hair-accessory like; passaa, studded side clips, brooches on Diwali – which you cannot wear on other occasions.
Back to basics: Your hands are feet become centre of attraction during all these festivities. Therefore, do not ignore your hands and feet and indulge pedicure and manicure sessions two or three days before festivals begin. Back bleach is a must if you’re going for a backless dress. One may also go for body polishing to infuse extra zing to their attire.
Fragrance of Festival: You cannot feel good until you smell good. Therefore, use nice smelling body-lotions along with anti-perspirant deodorants to keep you fresh and going during the festival!
Bling is in: Swaroskis can add the mush-needed bling to festivals! So, adorn your upper lash-line with swaroskis for a celeb-like look. Or, use a stone or swaroski on the inner corner of the eyes and implementing the same on the outer end of your graphic liner for a sassy yet traditional avatar in a go.
