No fidayeen attack on 15 Corps headquarters: Vij
Pathankote, Nov 22: Saying that army troops have paid the price for rescuing all civilians and officials, Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), Gen N C Vij today denied that any fidayeen attack had taken place on 15 Corps headquarter in Srinagar on Tuesday in which a major, two CRPF jawans, one BSNL employee besides one militant were killed.

of Army Staff (CoAS), Gen N C Vij today denied that any
fidayeen attack had taken place on 15 Corps headquarter in
Srinagar on Tuesday in which a major, two CRPF jawans, one
BSNL employee besides one militant were killed.
There was no fidayeen attack on 15 Corps headquarters. It
took place in the outskirts of its headquarters in the
thickly-populated Indranagar locality, Gen Vij said on the
sidelines of the function to mark the 225th raising day of the
brigadier of guards and added that reports about a fidayeen
attack on 15 Corps were totally incorrect.
The attack took place at BSNL office in thickly populated Indranagar area, where lot of people and officials were residing, he said and pointed out army was inducted to rescue all of them from the area.
The operation was undertaken with lot of care and all the people and officials were rescued, Gen. Vij said adding that in the bargain " we have paid the price to ensure that no civilian gets killed."
That has been the army approach right through from the beginning of militancy in J & K, he said.
"We are ready to take casualities on our side to ensure that no civilian gets killed as we are always exercising restraint," Gen. Vij said.
