Islamabad, Sept 06: Pakistan will celebrate defence day today to mark the 17-day war fought with India in 1965. Pakistan celebrates defence day on September 6 each year to mark the war, which Islamabad proclaimed a success because its forces fended off what it calls an attack by a much larger Indian Army. The festivities will include displays of Pakistan's most advanced aircraft - including F-16, mirage, F-7P, F-7PG and A-5 - some of which will perform fly-bys. Pakistan's military also often uses the day to trot out weapons captured from India in the 1965 conflict.
The largest celebrations will be held at a stadium in the eastern city of Lahore, not far from the Wagah border. Bureau Report
