Anantnag, Aug 24: Observing that vested interests within and outside the country were one of the major obstructions in the peace process in the state, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has said border posts of Uri and Suchtgarh should be opened to allow divided families of Jammu and Kashmir to meet each other.
"Why cannot New Delhi and Islamabad agree to open Wagah
type border posts to facilitate visits of divided families of
the state in Uri and Suchtgarh," Sayeed asked.
"Many thorns are still to be removed from the path of peace and people should defeat the enemies of peace and vested interests to bring an end to the tormented phase of bloodshed," Sayeed said addressing a public meeting after laying foundation stone of a Rs 200 crore four-lane road from Khannabal to Chandanwari in Anantnag district last evening.
The Chief Minister said, while efforts were afoot to resolve Kashmir issue his government cannot sit idle doing nothing and keep waiting for outcome of the dialogue.
"We want to accelerate the economic development of the state and address people's problems. We have never claimed that we have crossed the hump but till a solution is found to Kashmir issue we must deliver," he said.
The coalition government was committed to change the destiny of the people of the state and restore peace that gives place of dignity and honour to every citizen of the state, he said.
