Aug 15: Colin Montgomerie slumped to a disastrous 12-over-par 82 in the first round of the USPGA at Oak Hill in Rochester.
The Scot, still chasing a win in 50 majors, went out in 42 and came back in 40 at the par-70 layout.
The former seven-time European number one leaked 12 bogeys as his challenge sunk without trace.
"I didn't play very well," admitted Montgomerie, who pulled out of the Open after eight holes with a wrist injury.
"I just missed too many fairways and had to make bogeys. Six pars were good, 12 bogeys weren't so good."
