Bhubaneswar, Oct 27: Damages caused by repeated floods in several parts of the state and the serious financial problems faced by the government are likely to be raised in the 11-day session of the Orissa Assembly commencing here today.
The brief session would have nine days meant for official business.
We will raise the issue of floods and the failure of the government to tackle it properly in the House, the leader of opposition, Ramakanta Mishra said.
Nine bills, three of them meant to replace ordinances promulgated earlier, are expected to be taken up by the House during the session.
The bills replacing ordinances would be Orissa Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2003, Orissa Forest Development (tax on sale of forest produce by government or Orissa Forest Development Corporation) (Amendment) Bill, 2003, Orissa Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2003.



The other bills included Electricity (Orissa Amendment) Bill, 2002, Orissa Aided Educational Institutions (appointment of lecturers' validation) Amendment Bill, 2002, Orissa Private Universities Bill, 2003 and Orissa Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Services (for SCs and STs) Amendment Bill, 2003.
