Mahabharata: Who was the only Kaurava to oppose Draupadi’s vastraharan?

As the Kul Vadhu (daughter-in-law) of Pandu – Draupadi – was dragged by her hair to the court of King Dhritarashtra by Kaurava Prince Dusshasana, the family patriarchs, the learned and the wise men, including Bhishma Piatamaha, Guru Dronacharya, Kul-Guru Kripacharya and Vidur stood as mute spectators to witness a sin that was being committed in their presence.

Dusshasana not only dragged Draupadi by her hair but also disrobed her as she pleaded for help and mercy. She was abused, called names for having five husbands and inexpressibly humiliated.

The only one present in the court who had the conscience to protest the unjust and unpardonable act of his own blood brothers- Duryodhana and Dusshasana – was Vikarna.

Vikarna warned his brothers that they would invite their own downfall by committing the sin of outraging Draupadi’s modesty. He knew humiliating the Kul-Vadhu (the woman who represented the pride and glory of their family) would invite wrath and hatred forever.

Thus Vikrana, despite being one among the Kauravas, proved he was unlike his treacherous brothers. He thus walked the path of Dharma.
