The first lady's Twitter account shared a message for the "Crazy in Love" hitmaker, thanking her for being a role model for young girls around the world, reported Entertainment Weekly.

"Happy birthday to the one and only, Queen... Thank you for being a role model for young girls around the world, @Beyonce. -mo."

The tweet was signed "mo", meaning it came from the First Lady herself. Beyonce rose to fame in the late 1990s as lead singer of R&B girl-group Destiny's Child, which disbanded in June 2005.

Throughout a career spanning 18 years, she has sold over 118 million records as a solo artist and has won 20 Grammy Awards.
