Ottawa, Sept 26: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has asked Canada to persuade India to resume dialogue, saying he wants a peaceful solution of all problems, including Kashmir with India.
"We stand ready to revive dialogue with India through a sustained process of negotiations. Unfortunately we are denied the very forum of dialogue," Musharraf claimed.
At the state dinner, hosted by him, the Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien said, "We are concerned with the nuclear weapons programmes of both Pakistan and India as they diminish regional and global security."
Chretien, however, welcomed signs of easing tension between India and Pakistan. Musharraf, on his part promised the Canadian leader that his country would not allow its weapons to proliferate to other countries nor would it "allow its nuclear potential to fall into the wrong hands" and in an ironic note also thanked Canada for helping build the Karachi nuclear plant, a media report here said.
