New Delhi, Sept 04: The US Embassy today announced
that there is no longer an extended waiting period for
appointments for non-immigrant visa interviews at the US
Consulate General in Chennai.
"Visa applicants from southern India should be able to
obtain an interview appointment by visiting www.usvisas.com",
the Embassy said in a release here.
The Embassy said it was putting an end to the special
procedures which had been adopted this summer as per which
applicants from south India had to personally apply for visas
either at the US Consulate General in Kolkata or the Embassy's
consular section in Delhi.
The change would take place with immediate effect and
those who have already booked an interview may still attend
it, "provided it has been scheduled for a date prior to
September 30, 2003", it said.
