New Delhi, Aug 21: Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday predicted that current spell of economic recovery might not continue for long as whatever upturn in the industrial production took place recently was not due to any major noteworthy structural reform. "Current economic recovery might be sustained only for a short period as none of the upturn in industrial production has been led by any major structural reforms," Assocham said in a latest study.

The prospect for a sustained industrial growth are better now than in the past, it said and added "but, the revival could be set back by several factors".
It described soft interest rates, low inflation, comfortable foreign exchange reserves and above all a normal monsoon as ‘positive’ features of the Indian economy.
The negatives happen to be the absence of any structural reform and probability of a drop in rural demand as an outcome of last year's poor monsoon, it said adding that the boom in construction might not be able to make up for it entirely. Bureau Report
