Los Angeles, Nov 17: The Christmas comedy ''Elf'' had the hightst box office receipts for the weekend with a preliminary gross of 27 million dollars, the studios said. Receipts for the Will Farrell movie about a man-child raised by Santa's Elves were off 13 per cent from its debut last weekend, but still were higher than box office sales for ''master and commander: the far side of the world''. The Russell Crowe movie that debuted this weekend sold 25.7 million dollars worth of tickets, box office report said at its website. Sales for last weekend's no. 1, ''matrix revolutions'', were off 66 per cent to 16 million dollars for third place. The Disney movie ''Brother Bear'' was no. 4 with 12 million dollars worth of ticket sales, while ''Looney Tunes'' was fifth, selling 9.5 million dollars worth of tickets. Rounding out the top 10 were ''love actually'' with 8.9 million dollars in ticket sales ''scary movie 3'' with 6.1 million dollars ''Radio'' with 5 million dollars ''Tupac: Resurrection'' with 4.7 million dollars and ''Mystic River'' with 3.3 million dollars.
