Hyderabad, Oct 25: Putting an end to allegation of baby swapping, a seven-day old baby girl was re-united today with her parents after conducting a DNA test, police here said. Padma, a native of Narayanapuram village of Nalgonda district, in her complaint to Sultan Bazar police had alleged that her baby boy was swapped for a baby girl by the staff of government maternity hospital at Koti here on Monday last. After registering a case, police interrogated the hospital staff on duty and sent blood samples of Padma, her husband Sailu and the baby girl to the Centre of DNA Fingerptinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) to determine the biological parents of the infant. The report established that Padma and Sailu are the biological parents of the girl and there was no case of baby swapping in the hospital, north zone DCP Sunil Kumar said here.
The baby girl was handed over to Padma today who had earlier refused to accept the baby girl, he said.
But after the DNA test, Padma today accepted the child and left for her native place, Kumar said. Bureau Report
