Russian foreign minister to arrive on 3-day visit
New Delhi, June 15: Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov will arrive here on Sunday on a three-day visit to have extensive discussions with his counterpart Yashwant Sinha on bilateral matters and on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Ivanov will be accompanied by a high level official delegation comprising senior officials.
During his visit, Ivanov will call on President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He will also meet defence minister George Fernandes, an external affairs ministry release said.
"Talks between our dignitaries and Ivanov are expected to further cement bilateral ties and shared positions on many issues of vital interest to both countries," it said, adding "the two sides share similar positions on many issues,
especially the struggle against international terrorism and religious extremism."
Ivanov had earlier visited India in May 2001 and February 2002. He had also accompanied President Putin on his state visits to India in October 2000 and December 2002.
