New Delhi, Nov 29: A Delhi court today rejected the bail plea of stamp paper scam accused Lalit Patodi saying that gravity of the offence did not warrant grant of bail to him. "Considering the allegations, national economic laws and gravity of offence, the bail application is rejected," Metropolitan Magistrate DIG Vinay Singh said dismissing his plea.

Patodi, according to police, had actively conspired with the inter-state gang headed by kingpin Abdul Kareem Telgi, which dealt with fake stamp papers.

It was he who opened fictitious bank accounts for Telgi and his accomplice Sohail in the capital, police said adding they also recovered Rs 2.3 lakh from him.

Patodi rented out premises to the members and facilitated the gang to carry out its illegal activities.
Delhi Police crime branch, probing Telgi's tentacles in the capital had arrested Patodi and another accused Sushant Kumar Dass earlier this month.
