Kharar, June 16: A local court today extended the police remand for former Punjab Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Parkash Singh Badal's NRI cousin Narottam Singh Dhillon till June 18. The order was issued duty magistrate Harinder Sindhu here.
Arrested on June 12 from his flat in the suburbs of Shimla in connection with corruption and disproportionate assets case registered against Badal's trusted lieutenant and officer on special duty Hardeep Singh on august 29 last year, Dhillon was produced before the court here after the expiry of his two day police remand.
The court asked the prosecution to file a reply on the explanation already sought by sub-divisional judicial magistrate Baljinder Kaur Bhatia regarding the non-compliance of court orders directing to provide medical facilities and allow defence counsels to meet the accused one hour daily during police remand. The court issued fresh directions to get Dhillon medically examined before and after his every court production besides providing him specialized medical facility as and when require from Chandigarh. The court also issued warrants to search a farmhouse of the Badal family at Balasar village in Sirsa district of Haryana on the request of the prosecution to recover some important and documents, which Dhillon has reportedly kept there.
