Everyday while waking up we hope for the best of the day. The prayer starts with a wish for bright, shining day both in terms of prosperity and health. The Sun God (Surya Dev) is considered to be the form of God that can be seen everyday. He is the driving force of our existence and the lord of wisdom and excellence in life.

In order to stay fit and offer prayers to the Sun God, we perform the Surya Namaskar. As per Hindu mode of worship, certain movements are performed at the rising of the Sun. As many as 10 yogic postures complete one namaskar, and twelve sacred Hindu mantras are uttered and for each mantra one complete namaskar is done. In older times, it was believed that 108 namaskaras a day should be completed.
