Stockholm, Oct 26: Todd Woodbridge captured a record-tying 78th doubles title today, teaming with Swede Jonas Bjorkman to beat Australians Wayne Arthurs and Paul Hanley 6-3 6-4 in the Stockholm Open final.
Woodbridge tied Dutchman Tom Okker for the most doubles titles in the open era.
Bjorkman and Woodbridge paired up after Mark Woodforde retired from the ATP tour at the end of 2000. Since then they have won 11 titles, including four grand slams (Australian Open in 2001, Wimbledon in 2002 and 2003, and the US Open in 2003). The Swedish-Australian pair, the No. 1 team in 2001 and No. 2 last year, is ranked fourth in the ATP team race.
Arthurs and Hanley, sixth in the team race standings, also lost last year's Stockhom Open final. Robin Soderling and Mardy Fish, both chasing their first ATP singles title, met in the final late Sunday. Bureau Report
