Bangalore, May 27: Karnataka government today released Rs 22 crore for taking up employment generation programmes in drought hit areas in the state, Minister of State for Revenue M Mallikarjun Nagappa said here. The government has directed top district administration officials to submit a report on the drought situation and drinking water scarcity by June 17, he told reporters here.
The state has requested the Centre to sanction Rs 43 crore assistance to provide drinking water in scarcity hit areas and release 1.65 lakh tonnes of foodgrains to implement the food for work programme, he said. Bureau Report
