Jerusalem, June 29: The Israeli Army lifted today the day-light curfew in West Bank towns that it has occupied for more than a week, a senior government spokesman said.
"The curfews have been lifted in all Palestinan cities, except for Hebron, but only during day-time. They will be re-imposed during" the night, Arie Mekel, one of the Israeli government spokesmen, said. "We hope to continue with this policy in the cities where it is quiet and where there is no armed resistance," Mekel said.
Residents from Hebron, the last of seven of the eight West Bank towns reoccupied by the Israeli Army since June 19, later said that the curfew on their town had been lifted for three hours today afternoon. Israeli troops entered the Palestinian self-rule area on Tuesday. The army launched its reoccupation of West Bank towns following back-to-back suicide bombings in Jerusalem that killed 26 Israelis.
