Mumbai, Oct 28: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam is yet to receive from Karnataka government the transcript of the alleged recorded telephonic talks between prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi, government officers and politicians, police sources said today. A special SIT team had visited Bangalore last week to seek the transcripts as per directions of the Mumbai High Court which asked it to furnish them before November 12.

According to sources, on SIT's request, Karnataka police prepared a rough transcript of the communication and the same was being cross-checked again by senior Karanataka police officials before a certified copy could be issued.

"The certified copy of the transcript is expected anytime this week," a senior state police official told newspersons.

The recorded communication allegedly reveals Telgi's conversation with several senior police officials of the state and some political figures, when he was lodged at Bangalore jail.
The Bangalore police, which has so far been reluctant to divulge the details of the conversation, relented following the recent directives of Mumbai High Court.

SIT sources said the taped telephonic conversation is an admissible evidence under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and could nail several cops including some high-profile officials from Mumbai Police.
