Glasgow (Scotland), May 10: Police have charged Senegal world cup striker El Hadji Diouf of Liverpool with assault for allegedly spitting at a Glasgow Celtic fan during a UEFA cup game.
Diouf did not attend yesterday's hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court. No plea was entered on his behalf and the case was adjourned until May 30.
Diouf is accused of spitting at a fan after falling into the crowd during the 1-1 draw at Celtic Park on March 13.
He apologised and invited the fan - Celtic season ticket holder Dominic Schiavone - to be his guest for the return fixture.
Celtic won the return leg 2-0 at Anfield and will contest the UEFA Cup final, against Portuguese club Porto, on May 21.
