Kolkata, July 29 (pti) congress legislators in the west bengal assembly today staged a walk-out demanding the left front government revoke its recent decision to impose tax on land owners. Chief whip of Congress Legislature Party Asit Mitra told the assembly during mention hour the imposition of land tax would be a burden on the people and that it should be withdrawn.

Congress MLAs then walked out of the house and returned after some time.

The state government recently imposed tax on land owners through a bill in the house. The land tax has also evoked sharp protests from two major LF partners, Forward Bloc and CPI.
