New Delhi, June 17: Defence Minister George Fernandes today paid a record 32th visit to the world's highest battle field -- Siachen Glacier. The minister who makes it a point to visit the glacier every six months to see the induction of new units to guard the glacier told the Army jawans posted there to keep up the vigil on the border with Pakistan. Fernandes said India was still awaiting response from Pakistan on stopping cross border terrorism. During the overnight visit Fernandes also visited the forward most post on the glacier. The defence minister accompanied by senior Army officers also visited the newly constructed forward hospital at Hunder on the base of the glacier which has been set up to treat jawans suffering from cold injuries in the glacier where temperature plunged down as low as -50 degrees Celsius.
