New Delhi: The annual Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav is all set to showcase various aspects of Indian culture through its rich and varied dimensions of handicrafts, cuisine, paintings, sculptures, photography, documentation and performing arts.

"The Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav will be held from October 15 to 24 here at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA)," Festival Director Gaurav Bansal told IANS on Wednesday.

Craftsmen from all over the country will display and sell their work at the festival. Demonstrations of the process of creating crafts by the master craftsmen will also form part of it.

"Day-long performances of folk arts, like 'Behroopiyas', 'Baazigars', 'Kacchi Ghori', etc., will take place on the campus," Bansal said, adding that there will be a food court with traditional delicacies from different regions.

As part of the festival, a photography exhibition themed 'Vandalism', will draw public attention to the activities of the misguided people, causing irreparable damage and loss to irreplaceable national heritage.

"The festival as a folk bonanza is going to present the rarest of folk and tribal dances, like Purulia Chhau, Thappete Gullu, Ranappa, Ghoomer, Jhoomer, Badhaai, Singhicham, Pung Cholam, Kavdil, Diwari, etc., from all over the country. They will regale and enlighten," Bansal said.

"More than 1,200 artists from all corners of the country will be coming together in a never-before conglomeration of arts witnessed in the country," he added.
