Brian Lara becomes highest scoring West Indies Test batsman
Bulawayo, Nov 13: Brian Lara became the highest scoring West Indies Test batsman in history when he reached 107 runs by lunchtime on the second day of the second and final Test against Zimbabwe today.

The century saw Lara, 34, reach 8,541 runs and overtake Viv Richards. The West Indies captain has now set his sights on the rarely achieved 10,000 career runs, only racked up by
three other batsmen.
Australia's Allan Border scored 11,174, countryman Steve Waugh made 10,660 and India's Sunil Gavaskar notched up 10,122. Upon reaching 100 at the queen's sports club today, Lara recorded his 22nd test century and his 50th in first class cricket.
He went on to score 191 not out by lunch, hitting four sixes and 23 fours.
While Lara was breaking records, Ramnaresh Sarwan reached his 17th half century in his supporting role. Sarwan made 65 before falling leg before wicket to ray price. Their partnership for the fourth wicket was worth 190.
Price has taken four wickets so far, adding to the 10 he took in the first test last week. Yesterday Lara's sensational innings was ended prematurely when rain interrupted play.
