Durga Puja festival comes to a close in Bengal
Kolkata, Oct 05: Curtains came down on the four-day Durga Puja festival in West Bengal with the immersion of idols of Goddess Durga on` Bijoya Dashami` today.

Along with 'Bijoya Dashami', Dussehra was also celebrated with the main function organised at the maidan in the city.
Thousands gathered to see Ramlila which was played on a makeshift stage before burning the effigy of Ravana.
Police has fixed October 7 as the last date for immersion of idols after which action would be taken against puja committees not complying with the order.
City police sources said that so far immersion had been limited to only family pujas and there was no report of any big puja committee going in for immersion.
The police said that apart from family pujas, a few smaller puja committees had also gone for immersion of idols during the evening.
To facilitate the immersion at River Hooghly, circular railway services would remain suspended till Tuesday, the police said.
Elaborate arrangements have been made at various ghats to prevent any mishap and facilitate immersion smoothly. River traffic police was also deployed in strength.
Various tour operators organised special river cruises to view immersion of Durga idols in River Hooghly.
