New Delhi, Feb 23: Under fire for admitting historysheeter and former MP DP Yadav into its fold, the BJP on Sunday night indicated it could have a "rethink" on the matter even as RSS joined the growing chorus of unhappiness over his induction into the saffron party.
"People have high expectations from the party and when its image suffers because of an individual, the party could have a rethink so as to remove the wrong perception that is in the minds of the people," party spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said in New Delhi.
Reacting to bad press the party got on allowing Yadav into the party, Naqvi said "among the media and the people the perception is that BJP is a party with a difference and when certain steps are taken by it, they question the party whether it is really a party with a difference."
Asked about Yadav's entry into BJP, RSS spokesman Ram Madhav said without naming him that "it is essential for the party to ensure that its image does not suffer and for this it should take steps to ensure it is preserved".
He said "BJP is going into battle mode for Lok Sabha elections and it is bound to evolve a strategy to help it win. But, at the same time, it should ensure that it does not adopt a strategy that damage its image."
