New Delhi, June 30: The designated authority has recommended provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of copper clad laminates from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Philippines and Thailand. In its preliminary findings, the Directorate General of Allied Duties (DGAD) recommended that the provisional anti-dumping duties be imposed on ad-valorem basis.

The anti-dumping duty is recommended as a percentage of CIF export prices to India at the rate equal to 26.67 per cent for Doosan Corporation from Korea and 46.41 per cent for all other exporters. The duty will be 14.06 per cent for Isola Asia Pacific and 22.83 per cent on all other exporters from Philippines while it will be uniform 18.07 per cent for exporters from Taiwan, 23.89 per cent on exporters from Hong Kong and 43.92 per cent on Chinese exporters, the notification dated June 25, 2003 said.

The CIF (cost inclusive freight) value of imports for the purpose shall be the value except all duties under the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The investigation was initiated by DGAD on the basis of a petition filed by Gujarat Perstorp Electronics Ltd.

Copper clad laminates are laminates of paper or glass fabric of a kind used to make printed circuit boards, which in turn is a major input in consumer, entertainment, industrial, telecommunications, computer, defence and aerospace electronic hardware.

The period of investigation was from January 1, 2002 to September 30, 2002. Bureau Report
