Imphal, Oct 05: Strongly condemning the reported move to integrate parts of Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh with Nagaland, major social organisations today threatened that they would launch movement for secession of Manipur if its territories were disturbed. These reactions followed recent media reports that Centre's emissary K Padmanabhaia in peace talks with the NSCN (IM) had proposed to set up a boundary committee to include Ukhrul and Senapati districts of Manipur and Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh with Nagaland.

A spokesman of the apex body United Committee Manipur (UCM) while talking to reporters wondered why the central authorities had ignored the unanimous voice of people in the state against any move to disintegrate Manipur. Urging the state government to seek a clarification from the Centre on the issue, he said the UCM would also organise a joint meeting of public leaders of various communities to create awareness against any move to break up the state.
