Ajmer, May 29: Rajasthan High Court has issued show cause notice to the state government on a writ filed by a doctor who alleged that she was sexually harassed by her colleagues at the Medical College here.
Issuing orders in Jaipur earlier this week, Justice Ashok Parihar asked the chief secretary, principal secretary of medical and health department, superintendent of police in Ajmer and local medical officers to ensure disposal of Dr Prabha Saxena's complaint and sought reply within three weeks.
Dr Saxena had alleged that her colleagues passed cheap remarks and made undue physical advances at the work place, but her complaints were paid no heed.
Failing to get any response from the state government, she filed a criminal complaint against the principal and other officials at the Medical College under Section 354, 34 IPC in the court of additional chief judicial magistrate in which her statement was recorded. Simultaneously, she sought to invoke inherent jurisdiction under Article 226 of the Constitution against the State of Rajasthan and others for an independent investigation and disciplinary action against the accused doctors.
