Lucknow, June 09: The BJP today dared opposition parties to parade the MLAs supporting them before the Uttar Pradesh Governor Vishnu Kant Shastri to establish their claim that Mayawati government has been reduced to minority following the withdrawal of support by Rashtriya Lok Dal. "If the opposition parties have enough numbers they should present the MLAs supporting them in person before the Governor and prove their claims," the state vice-president and spokesman of BJP Hriday Narain Dixit told reporters here. The fact is that the new alliance between the opposition parties is not in a position to provide an alternative as it still lacked the numbers despite the tall claims of their leaders, he said, adding theirs was an 'unprincipled alliance'. Dixit recalled that ever since the Mayawati government came to power the opposition parties, specially the Samajwadi Party, had been busy plotting to topple the government. This time, however, the Samajwadi Party has been joined by Congress and RLD in 'topple Mayawati government campaign', he added. Meanwhile, the state BJP president Vinay Katiyar, on his Jan Jagran Yatra in Bahraich, said there was no threat to the Mayawati government as the BJP was solidly behind the BSP. Katiyar reiterated that the state would be forced to face mid-term elections in case the BJP-BSP coalition government was brought down. Bureau Report
