PDM-Cong merger issue to be decided
Shillong, Dec 08: The People`s Democratic movement (PDM) will decide its merger with the ruling Congress in its general council meeting here today, party president Strong Cajee today said.
"We will decide and pass a resolution on the merger issue today when representatives from different units of the party would come here to participate in the general council meeting'', he told reporters here.
PDM, which earlier negotiated with the NCP for merger, aborted the bid to 'respect the sentiments' of the people who wished otherwise, he said. Evading a direct answer on the reasons of merger with the Congress, Cajee said the decision was prompted since most of the parties in Meghalaya joined hands with the latter in forming the coalition government.
PDM, floated in 1997, fought for 11 seats in the last February elections but could not win a singly seat. Bureau Report
