Fulham, June 07: Edwin van der Sar has revealed that he wants to quit Fulham - then launched an attack on their lack of ambition.
The Holland goalkeeper was signed by former boss Jean Tigana when Fulham hoped to establish themselves as a Premiership force backed by multi-millionaire chairman Mohammed Al Fayed. But Fulham face an uncertain future after a season of struggle, and Van der Sar now believes the time is right to leave after Tigana was sacked and replaced by Chris Coleman.
The former Juventus and Ajax star told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf: "Nothing they said has happened, and last season was dramatic.
"We were out of most competitions within no time and after that the rest of the season is a long road."

The 32-year-old has instructed his agent Rob Jansen to hunt for a new club although he has a contract with Fulham until 2005. He said: "The price Fulham want for me is not extremely high, but nowadays you can't demand as much anymore.

"Some years ago you could tell your agent that you only wanted to play in England for example, but now you're lucky if a club is interested."

Van der Sar - a Champions League winner with Ajax - was also critical of the club's participation in the Intertoto Cup, claiming he was embarrassed by the seriousness with which Fulham treated the competition.

He said: "Those were big games for that club, but I thought to myself, what are they making a fuss for?"
