Decision on renaming Maharashtra universities soon
Mumbai, July 22: A decision regarding renaming Nagpur and Amravati Universities would be taken at an all-party meeting before the conclusion of the monsoon session of the state assembly.
Mumbai, July 22: A decision regarding renaming Nagpur and Amravati Universities would be taken at an all-party meeting before the conclusion of the monsoon session of the state assembly.
This was announced by higher education minister Laxman Dhoble in the house during question hour today.
The query about renaming Nagpur University as Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj University and Amravati University as Karmayogi Gadge Maharaj Univeristy was raised by Arun Adasad (BJP) and others.
Referring to government's assurance that a meeting would be held to decide about it, BJP member Sudhir Mungantiwa said a concrete assurance should be given in this regard. Congress member Sunil Deshmukh said all group leaders are present in Mumbai and the decision should be taken immediately.
Dhoble stated that a meeting of all party MLAs would be held before the end of the session. The Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde would preside over the meeting, he said adding that it would decide about the matter.
In reply to a supplementary by Prakash Mehta (BJP) and others, the minister of state for environment Rajesh tope denied that fish in Powai Lake were dying due to polluted water.
